Project Summary

The curving building silhouette with its undulating super roof celebrates form, and provides the departure hall with natural daylight through the selectively placed skylights. The steel-framed glass wall provides unobstructed views from the arrival area to the ticketing hall, enabling passengers to easily find their destinations.

The transportation sector has a high demand on materials in regards to durability and maintenance. Grankraft provided the stainless steel flooring and air grills for the project. Together with the advantages of being more durable and easier to maintain architectural metal cladding provides a lightweight solution that allows to pre-fabricate and pre-assemble elements for a more efficient construction program. The floor grilles are fabricated out of 4mm strips of stainless steel plates, grade 316L and then assembled to the required length and width as per the required free area. These grilles were assembled/welded using our welding robotic machine to speed up the process to complete the project as per the given schedule.

Physical protection is another key part of today’s planning process, especially in the transport sector. We have specialised in metal cladding solutions for bollards and railings where blast and intrusion protection are required, balancing the aesthetic demands and structural requirements. For the Hamad International Airport, Grankraft have fabricated the stainless steel road barriers. These road barriers are made of 60mm thick fine brushed stainless steel plates of grade 316L. The plates were cut by Grankraft’s water jet cutting machine as per the required designed shape and they were welded to a 40mm thick stainless steel base plate also of grade 316L by Grankraft’s robotic welding machine. The balustrade consists of 180mm diameter posts of 6mm thickness stainless steel sheets of grade 316L bolted to the uprights.
